Chaplin House was built in 1797 as an alehouse. It played an important part in the life of the village: the first floor of the house was one large room in which parish meetings and other public gatherings were held. The lounge still retains the original cast iron range. Although it is no longer used for cooking, the fire in the range is lit on winter evenings and it is easy to imagine life as it was lived here until the middle of the last century. The building was last used as a public house in 1923. On arrival at Chaplin House, you will be greeted with home made cake and beverages so that you can begin to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. In the renovated barn, there is a twin bedded fully accessible room downstairs and family room upstairs. Behind the barn in a converted farm building is a ground floor accessible double room with its own patio area whilst inside the house itself is another double room. All rooms offer a high degree of comfort being en suite, spacious and stylishly decorated. Rooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a clock radio, TV, DVD and hairdryer. With access to a PC and free wifi, there is a comfortable lounge in the barn available for guests' exclusive use leading to a decked terrace overlooking the large rear garden where you can relax. For breakfast, we offer a range of options, including vegetarian choices. Much of our produce is locally sourced, free range and organic. One of the aims of our business is to be environmentally aware. This part of Lincolnshire offers much to the visitor. Lincoln is 13 miles to the north with its Cathedral, Castle, Christmas Market, and diverse shopping. The area is rich in aviation heritage sites, The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is a few miles away at Coningsby whilst Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby is just a twenty minute drive.
