Lotus Place Hotel, the Lakeside Beijing is located by the north bank of Houhai, one of the most prestigious areas of Beijing, surrounded by Guang-Hua Buddhist Temple, Tower of Drum, Yin-Ding Bridge, the Former Residence of Madam Soong-Ching-Ling, and the Palace of Prince Gong. The area remains a complex labyrinth of alleyways and traditional Beijing Houses - the courtyard. There are many different stylish bars and restaurants in walking distance to both local and foreign tourists. The location of the hotel allows overnight guests and tourists a chance to truly experience some of the charms of the area, replete with old man and women going through their taijiquan routine, old men lavishing attention on their birds and the strains of the Jinghu - a two-string spiked fiddle used in Peking Opera, two men playing chess with many others watching, kids playing on the ground.
