The Greyhound is located in a quiant village near the Yorkshire market town of Selby close to York. Selby is a busy and growing market town, 12 miles south of the City of York, in North Yorkshire, England. Although historically part of Yorkshire's West Riding, Selby is now the southern most district in the non-metropolitan county of North Yorkshire. Built around Selby Abbey as it's magnificent centrepiece, much of the town's wealth historically came from the banks river on which it sits, The River Ouse. York itself is a city of contrasts and exciting discoveries, York is a place where the old encompasses the new and the commonplace meets with the unexpected. Broaden your mind with a visit to world class museums or a variety of festivals held throughout the year catering for all ages and interests. Recently certified with the prestigious Cask Marque, Locale accreditation and also awarded York CAMRA Country Pub of the season Winter 2009. The Greyhound is open all day, the pub boasts quality ales, including Tetleys, Tetleys Mild, Golden Pippin and a two regularly changed guests - John Smiths & Worthington Smooth. Together with a good range of lagers such as Stella Artios, Kronenbourg 1664, Carling and Fosters. The cider, stout, wines, spirits and soft drinks are all premium. There is an extensive wine list. Relaxed and warm, the ambience is always a draw here, making the inn popular with locals and visitors alike - many of whom are in the region to enjoy the attractions of River Ouse walking, the Trans Pennine Trail, Skipwith Common Nature Reserve, Selby, York and the surrounding area. Steve and Sue, offer all their guests a warm welcome.
