Banbury is a British town located in the county of Oxfordshire. The town, although very historical, is a vibrant place with an important business community. The narrow streets can be explored on a historic walk of the town and the visitor can take a guided tour to discover all the secrets of Banbury. One of the town's main attractions is Banbury Museum. This is an excellent place to find out about the history of the town as well as to see art exhibitions, a collection of costumes, some as old as the 17th century, and a great deal of information on the English Civil War. Another interesting site is Broughton Castle, a lovely medieval castle set in a rural landscape. A number of movies have been filmed here, including Shakespeare in Love. On a similar theme, you can also visit Upton House, a 17th century country house with a major art collection and a beautiful garden with splendid views over the lakes and valleys of the area. Banbury is a truly beautiful town set in attractive scenery and which has maintained many of its traditions. To visit it is a unique experience. |
